We welcome to our faculty for the Spring Semester, Ms. Donna Westbrook, who will teach "Women of the Bible." A former guest speaker for the course, Ms. Westbrook brings her creative perspective as a poet and Biblical Storyteller to an exploration of the lives of several pivotal women of the Bible.
She combines her lifelong passion for Scripture with a desire to discover and communicate its relevance today. A graduate of Baruch College, CUNY, a spiritual director and former religious, Ms. Westbrook is a member of St. Andrew's in Lake Worth where she serves as parish secretary.
In the Fall Semester, The Diocesan School welcomed Mr. Jay Fradet to teach "Spiritual Journey, Part 1" and a new course for our Year Three students, Discernment for Ministry. This Spring 2012 semester, Mr. Fradet will continue with "Spiritual Journey, Part 2" and will take over teaching Spiritual Direction: Giving and Receiving.
Jay will replace Rev. Nancy Wynen, who is leaving for a parish outside of Seattle. We give a fond and grateful sendoff to Rev. Nancy for her teaching service at the Diocesan School over the past years. She will be missed!
Mr. Fradet has a joint doctorate from the Sorbonne and the Catholic Institute of Paris, and degrees in Moral Theology from St. Mary’s University in Baltimore, MD. He has taught at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary, Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Hollywood and Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale. He is a parishioner at St. Nicholas in Pompano Beach and a member of the Vestry.
The Rev. Dr. Lisa Barrowclough is another newer member of our faculty, and will be teaching the Spring Semester "Moral Theology section 202." Pastor Lisa will also continue teaching the new "Pastoral Theology" course this Spring and will add "Basic Moral Theology" to her teaching responsibilities.
The focus of Pastor Lisa's D.Min. research and writing was moral development and character education. As a result she has been "steeped" in the writings of moral theology, an area of interest and passion for her. Pastor Lisa has been School Chaplain at St. Mark's Episcopal School, Palm Beach Gardens, since 2006. She received her M.Div. at Queen's College, St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada and in 2009 her Doctor of Ministry degree at Virginia Theological Seminary.
